NaNoWriMo 2012

Read Disclaimer Here

I learned my lesson about censorship in 2010 and I will stick by my decision to not censor my characters for NaNo 2012. If you cannot handle, or do not like, scenes that may contain: Sex, Intimate Acts, Cursing and other explicit or politically incorrect language, Drugs, Alcohol, Violence, Homosexuality, Hedonism, Religion, or any other possibly offensive material, you have been warned. I am not saying that I will have these things in my writing, but should they pop up I'm not going to censor my characters.

I've been told my writing is very "realistic" and the only way to keep it that way is to let the characters carry the story. I am not endorsing or promoting any behavior, decision, life style or idea through my writing. It is fiction and meant to entertain. I hope you will give it a chance, and I hope you enjoy it, but I want you to know that up front.

So please do not accuse me of “needless cussing.” I didn’t write in a sex scene (should there be one) because I can, or an explicative  because I can.

If there’s an f-word or intimate scene, it’s to allow the characters to react naturally in the situation they are in, to develop character, and to move the story along. Any other questionable content is in there for the same purpose. While this is especially true of my finished work, also remember that NaNoWriMo work is often padded with silliness, and so the boundaries may be pushed more than will be in the finished work.

So this is a few days late, but I am doing NaNoWriMo this year and I am in it to win again! Actually, instead of the 50K, my goal this year is to get to 75K on Nov 30th. Of course, 50K is still a win, but I want to push myself into having a small, but actual novel this time. So here's to 30 days of writing everyday and talking with awesome people!

What's the Story for NaNo 2012?

Synopsis:

Pregnancy: some women accomplish it in one go, some take a few months, and some try for a year or more to get to hold their child in their arms. Other women will never become pregnant because of infertility. And then, there's women like Dessa Morrigan.

Unlike most women in their thirties, Dessa Morrigan, also known as Des, tries whatever she can to avoid getting pregnant. She charts her basal body temperature, takes ovulation predictor tests, tracks other signs of fertility, and takes the pill to make sure that she never adds "mother" to her resume. However, even the best plans are not always foolproof.

Shortly after her best friend Madelyn, who has been trying for a while to get pregnant, finds out she's pregnant, Dessa finds out that despite her best and often obsessive efforts, she too will soon be changing poopy diapers and singing lullabies.

So.. that's the plan! At the end of each post I'll post total word count so far and how many to go till I get to 75K. Also, posts will be updated at 11:59pm Central time for that day.

What can you expect from Shaynagier.com durring NaNoWriMo?

1- Unedited daily updates on the story. If you want to read the full thing, the days will be in the title, and I suggest you read them in order. These will be unedited, so please don't tell me this or that is mispelled, odd punctuation, ect. That's expected. You can, as you read, suggest titles and that would be very helpful!

2-No book reviews. Sorry, I know I have been absent the last 3 months. I've had a lot of crap happen, including weeks without the internet, and I've been under a ton of stress. I'm hoping to get back to reviewing in December- and if I have your book in the to-be-read list I will get to it! If you've emailed me... um... yea, I'll be getting to e-mail in December too. Again, my apologies, but at least I didn't die or anything, right?
